• Doesn't give the proper power for a Dell 5100!!

  The item arrived on time but I had to return it because it actually doesn't meet the power requirements of the Dell 5100. This power supply is 70 watts and the laptop needs 90 watts.My computer gives me warnings that it is not charging correctly. Also the interface to the computer is too loose. I sent this thing back for a refund.

  I bought this for my old dell inspiron 5100 laptop. It works GREAT and it was a great price. Dell wanted to charge me 60 bucks for another one after it finally gave out. I recommend this product.

  Just thought I'd add my voice and say I just received one of these and plugged it into an Inspiron 4100 and it works fine, so it appears that 70w is sufficient for this laptop. I rated 3 stars since I believe the seller should indicate that the supply is only 70w and therefore is misleading about this supply's ability to power other models that require 90w, but my experience so far is fine for my system.

  The power cords on ALL of my laptops eventually wear out at the coupling site. This is a manufacturing issue that needs to be addressed! Back to my review...this power cord replacement does the job, was inexpensive and saved this computer. I was not willing to pay over $50 as this is an older Dell (drifting cursor another issue). For very little money I was able to get more time off of this unit. Good product / good price. Got my moneys worth.

  Works, Weighs in at a fraction of the real deal, this I suspect is why gets very hot, the charging circuit is working at its limits. If you want a cheap unit to charge your laptop this will do the trick, but personally I would never leave it charging over night or while away.

  UPDATED: As I mentioned I have a Dell Inspiron 1100, and this Adapter works 100%...it is charging my laptop now, and I am running at 100% capacity via the outlet plug. I am VERY HAPPY and will be ordering more of these in the future.
  
  I know that some people posted they had problems and that the voltage was not what they expected, but mine is GREAT and my nerves can now be put to rest.
  
  I just wanted to update everyone, and although I cannot speak for any other system beside my Dell 1100, I have ZERO DOUBTS about ordering from this company again. It was shipped very fast, and their word was 100% the truth for my order.

  I contacted the seller and they assured me that this will have no problems being used with my Dell Inspiron 1100...If you do not see another review from me, all went well.
  
  You can be 100% sure that if I have ANY problem with this, I will be back on here ASAP telling the world to stay away from this vender for giving false descriptions of this product and they will be sending me a FULL Refund and getting a nasty email for wasting my time ( and theirs ) since I specifically emailed them today about my concerns of reading some of the negative feedback and they told me all would be well with my order.
  
  It is listed as 90W and it better be just that! I know that a few people had problems, but others were very satisfied so we are going to see just how good a deal this was.
  
  Again, I will be back to warn all of you even thinking about ordering this, if I have ANY problems. For now, because I have to enter something, I give a 3 star rating....and hopefully I can report a much higher rating in just a few days.

• Does NOT power a 5100 Inspiron

  I read the reviews before purchasing; a couple of folks warned that this was a 70 watt and would not power their old 5100's but there were far more positive reviews and this unit was less than half price of other 5100-compatible chargers so I took a chance.
  
  Well I got what I deserved; an error message saying the power supply was inadequate and the subsequent hassle of returning the unit, all to save a few bucks.
  
  If you are looking for a new 5100 charger (and given the shoddy construction of the OEM unit, as a 5100 owner you surely are) then keep on looking, dude. This is Chinese Junk.

  This is the second one I ordered. To be fair the first was OK. This second one was dead on arrival. I will try them again. It is a good value and I hope it was just a
  glitch. I give it 2 stars one good one dead. Not that its a hassle to return- Amazon is great , but where is the quality control ? 50% failure rate so far is not acceptable at any price.
